Hainse Signature 495F: Reviewed Peter Kaye 2017

The Haines Signature 495F is the new entry level cuddy cab from the Haines Group. Replacing the 493F, it has been redesigned and tweaked a little. Suitable for a family fun day on the water, fishing or even the overnight camping trip.

You won’t be needing a big vehicle to tow this 5 metre boat as the average family sedan would be quite suitable. Garage storage should also be easy with the removable bimini.

First looks on the water are impressive with its sleek, modern shape and eye catching colour scheme.

You will definitely be getting more than a few envious glances from many other boaties whilst cruising around the bay or estuaries.

The bow sprit has been redesigned with a single hatch giving access to the cabin and anchor well with the one clever hatch.

The cabin and cockpit have gained more room and storage with the new model.

The dash looks very nice with the cluster of 4 Suzuki gauges, and can accommodate a 9″ GPS/sounder. Visibility through the 3 piece acrylic windscreen is good from the sitting or standing position

There is a full length bench seat at the rear that can be folded down out of the way for those offshore fishing trips.

Behind the bench seats are two live wells in the port and starboard corners that could double as an esky/drinks caddy for those shorter family days on the water.

There is plenty of open pocket storage throughout the boat and even some well placed lighting for those night time outings.

The 495F comes with a vast array of colour choices for hull/trim/upholstery choices.

This is bound to engage the family in the colour selection process. Options for colours could see this boat go from mild to wild.

Rated for 60-90HP, this test boat was fitted with the 90HP Suzuki, which pushed this vessel along quite nicely.

Whilst the Gold Coast seaway was extremely treacherous on test day, we did manage to find some sloppy water inside the bar. The 495F handled the slop quite well and proved to be very dry in the ride department.

It is easy to see why it’s predecessors have been one of Australia’s biggest selling boats and this upgrade should be no different.

Prices start from $37,415 excluding on water costs.
